My-self review

Attendance and punctuality
My attendance and punctuality has been pretty poor recently due to the unpredictable road works at elephant and castle which will either get me in school an hour early or 5-30 minutes late which is annoying for me, but also the teachers that i have interrupted. Also with out a solid timetable i have had to guess when to come in or ask unreliable sources as they have different lesson times as me.
I never use to be late or missed some days at secondary school because i knew the route off by heart an other free alternative routes. And i knew when to be in everyday.

Organisation
My organisation is pretty average because of the fact that i may ask for pencils and pens, but do always bring a usb an headphones. Also i like to have a clean environment when working.

Motivation
To motivate me when wanting to create a new son i just have to play some uk drill
That will get me hyped and inspire me on what type of instruments i can find and what i can perhaps sample if needed.
Also i am easily motivated when working on theory and i have a slightly odd way of getting motivated. I get motivated by gettin an answer wrong and wanting to answer thw next one correct

Working individual

I work well by my self, because i am not easily distracted when producing but during theory i do try to keep focusses, but obviously everyone will struggle to focus with a friend beside them and you both are shocking at the topic!
But i do work well by myself but i feel that i am equally good with others

Working with a team
I am often a friendly person and when working aith others i like to listen to suggestions, ideas and even the tracks that they may have created just to experience different genres or just see how he or she works.
Also i have done work outside of lesson with josh david taylor and sonny so i feel that we are a pretty good tean because we are all similar when it comes to music.

Artist and Dj

The artsists i chose were local boys section boys because there was no footage of grittey ridez online.
And the Dj i chose was Dj Angger.

One main reason that i chose Dj Angger was that he also had prople dancing along side him when performing. And also i enjoy the music that he was creating was christmas based so was cool when I listened to it first in December.

Dj Angger had people dancing with him on stage when performing, allthough hewasn't  really engaging with the audience i feel that his acts up with him definitely kept the audience entertained With the serious bangers he was playing!

Watching Section boys perorm was pretty cool because most of the audience knew the lyrics to the song. So whilst they were all singing along sometimes Sleeks would stop rapping and lwt the members finish the lyrics which really engaged the audience. Although the two shows were completely fifferent i feel that the two shows both entertained well  and were SORT OF similar

Decades Project 1990's

Decades Project

The decade I have chosen is the 1990s, this is because these were the years Elton John had written the best selling single being 'Candle in the wind He was thought to have sold 33 million copies of that song itself. This decade made history with most of the songs made in that decade still playing to this day and have no reason to stop.

in the the very late 1970's rap was first created by The Sugarhill Gang with the song 'Rappers Delight'  and was a major shock to the public but as the years went on more artists experimented with this genre but none had succeeded to make it into the top 20 charts until Will Smiths 'Men in black' song.
This decade was beginning of rap being a genres spread worldwide where countries like Japan had released rap that had been heard worldwide.

Before this there weren't many Uk artists who had made any rap or who had described the streets as much as they did although there were some other artists who actually were the creators of this unique genre who were allot calmer when rapping. Rap had then spread to many different genres which made Trap, Grime and UK Drill.
Basically some of the Pioneers of this genre were artists like Dizzee Rascal, Skepta and Wiley.
Dizzee Rascal was a young producer experimenting with the genres of that era being Uk hip hop, Uk garage and R&B. Using these genres at the age of 16 he had produced his first single "I Luv U" in the year of 2002.This song was played world wide an still up to this day is cheered when coming on at festivals. It may have taken that long to get to these genres but it had to start somewhere.

The reason why i listen to rap music personally is because of the people who make it. It may be people i know or people from a certain area which influences my personal opinion on a track. Knowing people Dirty Dutch an Grittey ridez makes me want to listen to there music. Maybe to give feedback or even just because you want to stay true to an area.
I feel that allthough there are grime battles and "'diss tracks' the beef doesn't just stay online and this anger i feel has increased gang violance which also makes the youth listen to it more. Rap had made music violent you could say which is why it was frowned upon and took 14 years to make it into the charts.

The years from 1990's have also included Uk R&B but it hasn't quite become a worldwide thing like American R&B which has been heard all over and to be honest I'm not surprised. There are many more genres in the Uk that i have heard although some do contrast over like american trap an some Uk R&B.
There was also a song that made it viral from Japan called 'Hit G Ma' this song had 20 million+ hits on youtube because of how individual it was. A song with with an american trap brat and someone rapping in Japanese over. This art can be intense at times and disrespected but i feel if it weren't for the 1990s our music wouldn't have progressed this far.

I chose the years of 1990's because i appreciate that year for the variety of genres that have progressed in this time.

Kit Farino's bio

Kit Farino

Kit Farino was born in London and has lived there to this day. His Marj was Italian and his dad was Scottish. He is a 16 year old producer who lives in central London, Elephant and Castle.
He studied at Kingsdale foundation school from year 7 to 11 and then switched to Kingsway college for year 12+.
He also had a part time job at Schuh ( a shop down by oxford circus) He worked in the hours that he wasn't either making music or completing coursework for his class.
He was extremely talented, trust me he really was. But one thing that made him unique was that he was a white rapper. As the years have progressed more white rappers have been introduced  like Vanilla Ice to Eminem and now even MGK but looking into this generation i believe there is room for one more.  ;)

Decades Evaluation 1

Decades Evaluation 1

When listening to to all the artists we covered, I particularly took interest to the songs 'Superstition' and 'One Love'. These two were more appealing to me because of the tempo of the song and the genre they both are.

I do admit to have spent a lot of time on Superstition with the drum beat and when creating some of the bells which did affect me in the long run when not having a a good amount of time for One Love and Teardrop. I think that is a major factor with me which is unfortunate, but is something that i am working on quickly, which is time keeping. This is proven by the times of me completing work and handing it in on deadline eve's.

When producing the song One Love i looked up remixes of reggae songs online to see examples of other songs. this helped me when deciding whether or not i needed a massive kick drum or intense high hats to change the genre of the song originally. After coming to a conclusion i decided a simple drum beat was necessary and reverb on the voice sounded pretty cool in my opinion.

Superstition was very different to my first composition because i didn't vary as much as i did for the Bob Marly song. I went for an approach that i was familiar to, which was trap/dub Which i feel payed off at the end of it. It was upbeat with a drop that was noticed easily and although i spent the majority of my composing time on the song i enjoyed exploring the bells and creating 808's to give the song a real kick when needed.

Having created these versions of the songs i have A) explored into different genres and found how to mix completely different genres together. B) i was given help mixing the final version by Luke and Ollie as they both noticed that the gain on one of my drum sets was way to high and would have been distorted when listened to on a decent speaker. C) it was my first project that i had a deadline to give in when producing something on logic and as most people know, you can't really predict the time of how long it will take you to create a song.

Dj set review

Watching my performance I feel that although I replayed some songs I think it sounded pretty good.
I would give myself a solid 8/10. My timing was good considering that I didn't no some of the songs.
I think that one thing I could do in the future would be to come prepared and create a playlist before performing live. The way everyone reacted to the way I switched the songs gave me a confidence boost. I used that to take more risks and I think that they were paying off when I was trying new songs that I was only listening to for the first time in my headphones when performing.

This was all good until I suddenly horribly timed a section of the song trying to remix Six Seven
and drake for the third time.
my conclusion for it was that I should rehearse more and it will be a lot better

Audience survey review

When coming to a conclusion about my audience survey I wasn't surprised on my results.

The audience thatI answered my questions with were friends and people of similar interests, therefore the results that came back were either identical or extremely similar to my thoughts and views on the music industry. Allthough some questions answered were similar to my opinions, others shocked me and some of which were for instance that, some of the people I know spend no money on music and download it all through new apps.
I do also download certain tracks that may be either exclusive or only sold with an album, but hearing that people spend no money music confuses me.

It will be interesting to ask people on the course the same questions to compare the two answers because we may know that some people on the course are dedicated to music, but It May be different when it comes to spending money when you can download it for free. I also noticed that not all people listen to music in their free time and only listen to it when travelling, but I'm sure the people on this course listen to it throughout the day constantly like myself.

Comparing my results to others I feel that mine aren't completely different to everyone else's and the people in London may listen to lots of different genres but surprisingly I feel that their opinions on music are more similar than we think.

For example here were the results on where you listen to music.
